Each country has an area code that precedes a telephone number.
For example:
- France : +33
- Russia : +7
- Canada : +1
icastGo uses an IP telephony system based on the SIP protocol to make and receive calls.
A call that uses this protocol contains metadata such as
- the sender (which can be a text or a number),
- the recipient,
- the device used etc...
In the case of a call from icastGo, depending on the telephone operator receiving the call, some of this metadata may be ignored.
When the sender is ignored by an operator, the receiving phone sometimes replaces its name or number with the conference code from which the call originated.
If this code begins with the number 7, for example, then the call may appear to originate from Russia, whereas, like all icastGo calls, it actually originates from one of our data centres hosted in Montreal, Quebec.
