icastGo lets you define different levels of access restriction to a webcast.
Access for Viewers
Managing a Webcast with NO Viewer Restrictions
By default, when creating a webcast, access options are disabled. This means that identity confirmation and privacy settings are not applied. Therefore, anyone with the link can view the webcast anonymously, whether live or on-demand.
Note: A participant submitting a question must provide their name and email address. This allows the organizer to identify the participant without adding their name to the participant list. For more information, consult the article Questions from viewers.
Take caution as viewers may submit a question using a false name and email address.
Managing a Webcast with Viewer Restrictions
Identity Confirmation
If a registration form is enabled, identity confirmation is also activated. If it is manually disabled, the participant must enter a name and email address, even if they are random.
By enabling identity confirmation (but not privacy), participants have two ways to connect:
Note: If a registration form is enabled, Identity confirmation is automatically enabled alongside it. But, if identity confirmation is manually disabled then the viewer will be required to enter their name and email address, but they can use a random name and email.
By enabling identity confirmation, (and not Privacy) viewer's have two ways of connecting:
1. Those who are not joining via a direct invite but have access to the webcasts' link, will have to follow two steps to enter the webcast's interface.
-
- Upon entering with the link, viewers will have to submit their email.
- After submitting their email, they will be sent a new email with a secure link, which will lead them to the webcast, and their name will be added to the viewers list.
2. If a viewer is joining via a direct invite because they have been already added to the viewer's list, then they will not be prompted to enter their email address and will enter straight into the webcasts' interface, or to the registration form if enabled.
Privacy
By default, privacy is disabled, allowing anyone with the link to join the webcast. Enabling privacy restricts access to those on the participant list.
If you add a domain, access is also granted to email addresses from that domain. To restrict access only to listed participants, enable privacy without adding a domain.
Enabling the privacy setting, identity confirmation will automatically be enabled along with it, if it hasn't been enabled beforehand.
Access for Organizers and Speakers
Organizers
They will use the login page for the platform. Once connected to the icastGo platform, an organizer has access to all content belonging to his organization. They can access a webcast, regardless of the viewer access restriction.
Speakers
Like the organizers, the speakers use the platform login page. Once connected to the icastGo platform, a speaker has access to all content that has been assigned to them, or content for which they have been identified as a speaker by an organizer.
URL Links
Viewer links are different from access links for speakers and organizers. They will be provided to the organizers once the webcast has been created and is either sent via email to the viewers that have been added to the viewers list or has been shared to them directly.
- Connect to the platform: https://app.icastgo.com/
- Viewer access: https://app.icastgo.com/event/[Webcast-Key]*
* The "Webcast Key" is automatically generated by the platform when the webcast is created and is not predictable.
