icastGo allows you to give viewers the opportunity to vote live during a webcast by using the polling module.
Creating a Poll
Creating and editing a vote can be done in multiple ways:
- The Polls tab on the webcast settings page
- The Polls tab at the right-hand side of the Control Room
To create a poll:
- Click on the Add button to create a new poll.
- Type the question and answers in the pop-up window.
- Additional answers can be added by clicking on the Add option button.
- Click on the Validate button to save a poll.
Publish Poll for Viewers to Begin Voting
During the live broadcast, the organizer and the speaker can manage the status of the vote:
Pending > Published > Closed > Results displayed
Scroll down to view how each step appears for the Organizers/Speakers, and viewers.
A few comments
- As explained, all actions made by the organizers and speakers are passed on to the viewers with approximately 15 seconds delay. Nevertheless, the Speakers video remains synchronized with the slides, polling, and other actions.
- At any time, pushing a slide closes the vote from the viewer's view and displays the slide instead.
- Once closed, a vote may be republished, meaning that it will be open for new votes from viewers who haven't had the chance to vote the first time. This can be done whether or not the results have been posted, as participants who have already voted will not be able to vote again.
Examples of Actions in Order
Publish: Sends the poll to the viewers interface to begin voting
During this, viewers will see:
Close: Compiles all the votes to find the results.
Note: It can take up to 15seconds for the poll to compile all incoming votes.
Once finished compiling, viewers will see:
Show results
Note: Clicking on "Republish" and "Publish" will re-open the poll for viewer's, to allow anyone who didn't get the chance to vote the first time to submit their answer. Previous vote's won't be discarded.
During this, viewers will see:
Dynamic layout for viewers
Presentation slides and polls will be displayed simultaneously in the attendee’s presentation window.
When votes are published, a third panel will appear, allowing participants to view slides, polls, and their results side by side. All three panels can be dynamically resized, offering flexibility for participants to adjust their viewing experience.
When voting is closed and remains idle for more than 15 seconds, it will automatically minimize into a header bar. Published results will remain idle for 50 seconds before minimizing into a header bar.
Participants can also choose to close the poll panel manually. At any time, the polling window can be reopened, allowing participants to review or change their votes, if this option is available.
This dynamic layout remains functional within the archived webcast. Viewers can continue to manipulate the panel sizes as they prefer. However, polls cannot be altered after the event and are time-coded, ensuring they appear exactly as they did during the live webcast.
